______________________________________

DATE: October 10, 2006
TO: the girls in my class
FROM: me
SUBJECT: classroom chatter

______________________________________

girls, i love you all to death. there are 12 of us plus miss kim in the class, and we all get along. soo of course that means we will slack off on occasion and chit chat and goof off. our work gets done though.

my complaint is that i sit up in the front, in the corner, quiet. out of 12 of us, 3 are pregnant. 1 is married. 1 has a child. 3 are engaged. several living with their men.. ect.. ect..
i have nothing to speak about in class.
i am sick and fucking tired of hearing about your pregnancy, or your "man"... ect.. and so on.

shut the fuck up for once.
some of us single girls (meaning, me, since i'm the only one) do not appreciate the constant reminders of our situation.

fuck you.

sincerely

janet

(i would normally have no problem, its just that this has been going on EVERY day for the past 8 weeks ( 40 days!! )for several hours a day... there's only so much i can take.)

I thought my ears were perfectly fine and ready for another stretch. It's been long enough at least since the last one. I went from 7/16 to 1/2 and for like 3 days everything was fine. Tonight though, not soo fine. My lobes are swollen and sore and gross. I downsized to try and appease them and hopefully everything will heal up quickly without any scarring.

New plan...
Once I'm healed, I'll need some electrical tape.

merry christmas, i could care less

It's December.
3 weeks untill Christmas.
Today was the first snow of the season around here.
The past few years, I keep hoping the next year's holiday season will be better.
But it doesn't seem to be.
This time of year was soo magical when I was younger.
My family had strong traditions we held very close to the heart, some silly, some traditional.
-Christmas eve pizza dinner,
-Christmas eve movie,
-Christmas eve Midnight Mass,
-Chocolate Advent callendars,
-Going as a family, all 4 of us, to pick out the biggest Christmas tree on the lot, and then moving all the living room furnature to make the tree fit, and decorating the tree as a family.
-Leaving cookies and a can of coke out for Santa, ( the household Santa preffered it over milk )
-Opening up 1 gift Christmas eve, usually something sent from overseas from a family member.
-Waking up Christmas morning to find Santa left me a little something in my bedroom to keep my occupied untill I was allowed to go upstairs, I remember one particular year it was a Strawberry Shortcake doll with a little pan of plastic muffins that smelled sweet.
-My mom used to go christmas cookie crazy, tins and tins and tins of cookies she would bake. she would spend almost a week straight baking.

As my brother and I got older, slowly, one by one many of these thing started to fade away.
-It's been years since we've gone to Mass as a family on Christmas, we aren't a verty religious family, definitely guilty of being "Easter and Christmas Catholics", but there was still something very comforting about us all going.
-The real Christmas tree has been replaced by a fake one.
-Even though my brother and I are both grown, there is no reason for us to stop leaving out cookies just because we know the real truth about who eats them.
-My family structure has changed over the past few years, my brother is no longer living with us as of a few months ago, and this will be the third Christmas my dad hasn't been around. My mom has remarried, and her husband John was a part of our holidays last year as well. I also havn't spoken to my dad in quite some time, about a year at least.
-Last Christmas we did go to the movies as a family, we didn't eat a pizza dinner but a real Christmas ham dinner ( at midnight... dinner was started late ), but overall, That was the first year in many a Christmas ever movie was seen.
-Last Christmas I would have rather slept late than be bothered to wake up early to open presents. My mother was the one knocking on my brother and I's doors to wake us up.

This year I have hardly any money at all. I have soo much debt with my car I need to pay off, I can't afford to go christmas shopping at all. I'm not even sure how I'm gonna manage getting my own mother something this year. Usually by this point my room is a mess of presents and wrapping paper.

This is also the first year in quite a few I don't have to work on either Christmas eve or Christmas day. Last 2 years I've worked retail at Tower Records who insists on being open EVERY day of the year, and the 2 years before that I worked at a movie theater. I really want this year to mean something...

I want to get my picture taken with Santa this year.
I want to put together a gingerbread house.
I want to bake sugar cookies.
I want to watch Emit Otters Jugband Christmas a dozen times.

This entry is all sorts of scattered and disorganized, sorry.

On top of my wishlist this year for the fat man is...

My fathers' acceptance and support. And understanding.
An apartment in Philly with hardwood floors.
Someone special to buy a gift for and kiss me under the mistletoe.

oh, and another close friend of mine is expecting. am i a horrible person for wanting to keep my distance from her for now? the whole idea of my friends having kids scares me to death.

sooo today was an AWESOME day

FIRST
i went to the world cafe and saw none other than mikey_dough perform.
wxpn does a free at noon concert series every friday, soo my ass was definitely there for doughty, especially cuz im poor and couldnt afford the actually show that was tonight. he did about a half hour set. soooooooo good. love that man.

THEN
i walked over to the art museum to sit and kill time untill it was time to head over to first friday in old city. i sat on the steps and people watched for about 2 hours, it was really relaxing.

THEN
i walked from the art museum to south street, and im walking down south, and i pass copa, and look into the window and who do i make eye contact with?? none other than a friend of mine ive had on myspace for a year and a half now from NY who i havnt had the oppurtunity to hang out with yet, because we could never get scheudles synced up. i looked in the window and was like "hmm that looks like...HOLY SHIT IT IS!!!" and we made eye contact and smiled and realized we who exactally it was we were looking at and both bolted towards the door to meet up and exchange "oh my god this is soo crazy"'s and hugs. the meeting was realy brief only a few mins, because he was eating dinner with his g/f and her parents. thats why he was in philly, because they all went to the dali exhibit. soo even though it was a brief hello, as not to be rude to the people he was with, it was still amazing and random and made my day. im still in shock about it.

AFTER THE CRAZINESS
i walked up to old city for first friday, at this point i was getting exhausted, so i didnt really go into any galleries, i stopped for an ice tea ( at this point it was 6pm and that was the only thing i had to eat or drink all day ) and went into aka records and bought 2 cds i could live without but bought anyways. i checked out the abundance of street artists out on 3rd street this month and then headed back to 8th and market to take the train home

HOME...
lack of food all day... i walk in the house and theres spaghetti and meatballs on the stove, YUMMY

hrmmmm

Pope John Paul II is the only Pope I have grown to know in my life. I may not be the best Catholic, I may have struggles with my faith, I may not go to church regularaly, but I'm still a Catholic. I have never denounced that, and his passing definitely affected me. With today's election of Cardinal Ratzinger as the new pontiff, it has given me alot to think about. We have this new beginning in the Church now, maybe it's time for me to take a new beginning in my own spiritual journey. Maybe finding a little more comfort in my faith, will bring me a little more comfort in myself. I don't know.
